We have shown as an example policy statement, a document used by one of our members, the Avon Youth League. You would need to amend the name of your organisation or possibly the positions to which the policy would apply.

We have also included a sample declaration that many groups have attached to the policy and asked volunteers to sign and retain a copy for future reference. This serves two purposes:

  1. Education

  2. As a tool to illustrate to an individual that the behaviour that they are exhibiting is in contravention of the policy

For those groups and organisation involved within football it should be noted that the FA have issued a standard policy statement contained in their highly acclaimed procedures that can be viewed by visiting the FA web site.

CHILD PROTECTION

POLICY STATEMENT

The Avon Youth League is committed to creating and preserving the safest possible environment for children to play football.

 It is the duty of all League Management, Referees, Club Officials, Team Managers and any other individuals directly or indirectly involved with member clubs or teams playing in the League to be aware of and help prevent the abuse which children can suffer, neglect, physical, sexual and emotional.

The Avon Youth League accepts children’s welfare is paramount and all children, whatever their age, culture, disability, gender or religious belief, have the right to protection from abuse. All suspicions and allegations of abuse will be taken seriously and responded to swiftly and appropriately.
